About the charity

Broadhembury Charities — The Poor's Money (Registered Charity No. 201014) is an official UK-registered charity dedicated to applying its yearly income for the general benefit of people in need in the parish of Broadhembury, Devon.

A charity with deep roots

The charity is, in fact, a group of several historic local endowments brought together and administered as one. It operates under a Scheme formalised on 11 December 1956, which sets out how its income is to be used for the benefit of the parish.

How we work

The charity achieves its aims by making direct grants to individuals in need. Requests are considered by the trustees, who know the parish and apply the charity's resources where they will do the most good — always within Broadhembury, and always within the charity's purpose.

For the parish. Our help is for people connected to the parish of Broadhembury — neighbours helping neighbours, as the charity's founders intended.

The charity's accounts, trustee details and governing documents are matters of public record and can be viewed on the Charity Commission Register.
